Common Questions

What is a Hybrid Publisher?

We at Story-weaver Publishing see hybrid publishing as a partnership with the author and their story. We take a small portion of the royalties in exchange for access to our trusted editors, cover designers, and resources. It also means we're invested and will not settle for less than best for our authors.

How much does it cost to publish with you?

We aim to keep the costs as low as possible for authors, so we build a quote for them based on the length and work required to get it ready to publish during the editing phase. Also, shorter books will generally have less cost than a novel of 100,000 words. A ballpark range could be between $2,000 - $4,500.

What are the Royalties?

No author wants to make pennies. Our payout is 70% Net Sales on Paperback/eBooks, 60% on Net Sales on Hardcovers, and 30% on Audiobook.

Do I have to crowdfund?

Not at all. You could choose to pay out of pocket if you prefer. We offer crowdfunding as an option because it's a great chance to pre-sell your book, generate excitement, and cover the cost.

Do you do any marketing?

Right now, we're a small publisher with limited resources, so we want to manage expectations. Part of what we do for marketing is helping you learn how to utilize Search Engine Optimization to help you get found online. We also will work with you to submit your stories to awards. The most effective marketing comes straight from the author's platform, and we want to help you get there.

We have socials on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn in addition to our newsletter, and we will use these to help get your book out there.

Will my book be in bookstores?

If you are publishing a single short story, no. The cost to add it to IngramSpark vs. what it would leave after fees doesn't come out to be beneficial. For longer works, however, it would be distributed widely, thus allowing for it to be placed in bookstores and libraries.
